Addison Stone

Addison Stone is a retired child psychologist who served on the faculties of Northwestern University and the University of Michigan, all the time maintaining a summer home in Salisbury. When he and his wife (Joanne Carlisle) retired in 2012, they relocated to Cambridge, Mass, where they participated in Harvard’s Institute for Learning in Retirement (HILR), a group similar to TLC. Since that time, Addison has indulged his life-long side interest in the detective genre and the ways in which more literary authors have leveraged readers’ expectations about the detective genre to explore deeper issues. He led several seminars focused on this theme while a member of HILR. This seminar is a reworking of one he led at Harvard.
