Joanne Carlisle
Joanne Carlisle has been a teacher all her life. She taught middle and high school students in the Northwest corner (Indian Mountain, Salisbury and Hotchkiss schools)—subsequently, college students and graduate students at Northwestern University and the University of Michigan. Upon retirement and resettlement in Cambridge, she led study groups for adult learners at Harvard’s Institute for Learning in Retirement. These focused on literature, with a particular interest in short story writers (e.g., Alice Munro, Eudora Welty) and the history of the short story. Long-time (in phases, part-time) resident of Salisbury, she lives in the house she purchased in 1979 with her husband (Addison Stone) and puppy Charlie.
